Malaika has been directly involved in community engagement for many years. She grew up watching her parents actively participate in community by advocating for themselves and others through programmatic work including refugee resettlement and hosting community engagement events, such as cultural festivals. She has a Bachelor’s degree from Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University and a Community Transformation certificate from Emory.

In addition to supporting the administrative management and business development for Global Ubuntu, Malaika works with Sumaya to support partner programs in the GCDD Real Communities Initiative and the Welcoming Community Movement.
