In celebration of a 10 year anniversary and to further grow their program and build capacity among graduates, Global Village Project (GVP), a school for refugee girls in Clarkston, GA contacted Global Ubuntu to help them create and develop an Alumnae Advisory Council.
"THE ALUMNAE ADVISORY COUNCIL (AAC) CAN CREATE MUTUALLY BENEFICIAL PARTNERSHIPS BETWEEN GLOBAL VILLAGE PROJECT (GVP), ITS ALUMNAE, LEADERSHIP, AND WIDER COMMUNITY OF STAKEHOLDERS AND POWERFUL CONNECTIONS TO PROMOTE THE MISSION AND PROMISE OF GVP.”
We conducted a full day workshop to lay out the foundation of the Alumnae Advisory Council (including structure and governance) with ongoing mentoring available to develop leadership skills in AAC members.
Through facilitated dialogues and interactive group sessions, Global Ubuntu helped participants create a mission and vision statement, learn the importance of participatory decision making, consensus building, conflict management and restorative justice, as well as set expectations for AAC members, and GVP administration and staff.
